No domingo após o lançamento de seu álbum “My Voice”, Taeyeon fez uma grande participação no show de variedades coreano Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook, sendo a única convidada especial do episódio. Tae cedeu uma entrevista falando um pouco sobre o conteúdo do disco e performou 3 faixas deste: um medley de “Walk Through Memories” com o hit “Fine”, e o atual single “Make Me Love You”.
A primeira performance funcionou como abertura para o programa, com visuais leves e simples. Kim usava um vestido com estampas xadrez preto e branco, cantando “Walk Through Memories” com uma voz muito calma, sozinha em uma plataforma no centro do palco, enquanto a banda tocava no fundo do palco. Ao fim do segundo refrão, o instrumental começou a se diferenciar, trocando para a próxima canção.
Os violões de “Fine” começaram junto à mudança das cores dos holofotes, e Taeyeon desceu da plataforma, começando a andar pelo palco enquanto cantava, colocando mais força e emoção em sua voz. Após o primeiro refrão logo chegou a bridge, momento onde a cantora exibiu algumas de suas melhores high notes antes de interagir com a plateia durante a repetição do refrão.
Taeyeon então retornou ao palco nos últimos minutos do programa para uma entrevista com Huiyeol.
E: Seja bem-vinda Taeyeon. Já faz quase dois anos que não te vejo por aqui.
T: Obrigada! Eu ainda tava loira da última vez que vim aqui, já faz bastante tempo mesmo.
E: Bem, paremos de focar no passado não é? Vamos falar do agora e do “My Voice”.
T: Claro, tenho muita coisa pra contar sobre ele haha.
E: Quando começaram as gravações? Depois da turnê mundial do “Holiday Night”, achei que você e as garotas do SNSD teriam um bom descanso.
T: Tivemos um bom tempo pra descansar sim! Na verdade, quem tomou iniciativa para ir para o estúdio foi eu. Já estávamos planejando o álbum desde tipo, setembro, mas não me apressaram em nada com a gravação. Mas depois que acabou a turnê do “Holiday Night” eu senti um desejo muito forte de dar um pouco de mim pros trabalhos solo, são neles que eu consigo me expressar melhor, emocionalmente pelo menos. Então em novembro eu comecei a ir pro estudo para gravar as músicas, e a produção foi finalizada em janeiro.
E: Foi fácil decidir o conteúdo do álbum? As músicas que entraram, a sonoridade...
T: Foi sim, diferente da maioria das vezes. Eu e o time da R. (Entertainment) tivemos uma reunião pra discutir a direção que o álbum iria tomar, e na semana seguinte já tínhamos começado a trabalhar nas canções focados na temática. Se eu não me engano só duas ideias (de canções) ficaram de fora.
E: Falando nessa coisa da temática, vocês tiveram tanto foco nela que as músicas ficaram bem conectadas, parece um só grande romance.
T: A ideia foi quase essa! A gente pegou inspirações de experiências pessoais em relacionamentos e as entrelaçamos, para parecer um grande relacionamento com seus altos e baixos.
E: E quais desses “altos” e quais desses “baixos” são seus favoritos?
T: Dos “altos” eu diria “I’m OK” e “I Got Love”, elas tem uma sonoridade mais pesada que o resto do álbum mas tem as letras mais positivas. Dos “baixos”, “Lonely Night” e “When I Was Young”. Essa segunda eu quase implorei pra me darem certeza de que entraria pro álbum, ela foi composta de um jeito tão natural, e eu sinto que todo o arrependimento por ser inocente demais se encaixa muito comigo.
E: Ela foi uma das músicas do álbum que eu escutei antes do programa, é realmente linda. [...] Muito bem Tae, pronta pra mais uma canção? Nossa plateia está esperando.
T: Sempre!
E: Depois dos comerciais, Taeyeon e seu novo single “Make Me Love You”!
Os fãs que estavam com saudades das performances mais elaboradas de Taeyeon tiveram seus desejos satisfeitos com a performance coreografada de “Make Me Love You”. No palco iluminado por luzes que imitavam o brilho das estrelas e da lua, ela começa a performance no topo de uma plataforma sustentada por um bastão de ferro decorado, onde fitas de tecido estão presas, seguradas pelas dançarinas usando roupas semelhantes às de balé.
Tae focou somente nos vocais até o fim do primeiro refrão, quando removou parte de seu vestido para o deixar mais curto, e então se juntou às bailarinas fazendo movimentos um pouco lentos, que se conectavam à letra da canção. Um dance break de cerca de 20 segundos foi a surpresa da performance, presente após a bridge, antes que o último refrão chegasse junto aos belos e fortes high notes que ecoavam pelo palco, agora também decorado por uma chuva de pétalas cor de rosa.
